Self-caricature!

I've been active in art since I was three years old, constantly drawing and observing the world around me as I grew up in northeast Ohio. My artistic career really developed in my years at Aurora High School under the instruction of John Smolko. I currently attend the Columbus College of Art and Design as a fourth year Illustration major. I love illustration because I can apply my fine art attributes to commercial avenues.

I'm an addict for color and paint. Artwork with impressionist or expressionist qualities appeal to me the most. Some of my favorite artists and designers include Leonid Afremov, Alan Cross, Jenny Saville, Chuck Close, John Smolko, and Lisa Frank.

As for subject matter, animals (especially cats) and everyday life are my favorites to paint. Landscapes of roads, or "carscapes" as I like to call them, are especially interesting. Our commutes to work and school become so monotonous after awhile that the journey itself loses its charm, so I like to bring out the excitement of form and color of these everyday events that would otherwise be forgotten.
